Practical and Practicing Ethics: From a Councillor’s Perspective

shefman-casual-photo-2-0911_ppThis presentation will provide insight from the perspective of a municipal councillor on the nature of ethics and ethical behaviour at the municipal level. The discussion will look at the history of ethics on Vaughan Council from the year 2000 on. It will then document the steps taken to establish both an Integrity Commissioner and a Code of conduct for Councillors. Finally, it will attempt to provide insight into how the new ethics regime has worked over the last 12 years.
